That really depends on where the prides are and what prey is available to them. In the Botswana study area, it was mostly impala, but then in other places in Botswana lions have been known to prey on hippos and even elephants. Lions are greatly adaptable, and their meals come from what is on offer. If these are domestic animals like horses, cattle or goats, there are retaliatory consequences by farmers.
