Yvonne Arber
Yvonne studied sculpture at Reading University and has worked in various media throughout her career. For a number of years she provided artwork and cartoons for the charity Action for M.E.
Yvonne developed her method of card and paper construction whilst working as director of art in a primary school. She has constructed puppets and props for professional storytellers some of which were displayed at the British Museum
Since retiring Yvonne has worked with textiles, paint and graphics. She has painted murals for children’s nurseries and a nursing home and has had several local exhibitions.
Her work has an accessible, naïve quality and reflects her interest in wildlife and the environment. She likes to think of her animal sculptures as pictures that ‘come to life’
The Lion Aid Lion is the first big cat sculpture that Yvonne has attempted, but living with four little cats helped with the creative process!
