"Lion Art Taking Pride of Place"

LionAid is pleased to announce that our February art exhibition has been featured in the Kent Mercury (Dover, Folkestone and Hythe and Romney Marsh) newspaper.
"Photographs, paintings and other artwork featured at an exhibition staged by Dover-based charity LionAid. On show were oil paintings by famed Hythe wildlife artist and conservation activist Paul Apps, inspired by his African trips. They included Lion at Etosha Pan which will appear in Lions In Art, the forthcoming book by renowned lion conservation expert Dr Pieter Kat, who cofounded LionAid with fellow trustee Chris Macsween. Other contributors were awardwinning Thanet wildlife photographer Vic Sharratt and mosaic artist Martin Cheek. The artists donated some of the proceeds of their work to LionAid. LionAid is growing successfully and is described as “punching way above its weight” in highlighting the dwindling population of African lions. LionAid has teamed up with Tate and Lyle as the charity to represent the cowardly lion in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new production of The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium. The charity’s campaign against trophy hunting of lions with Andrew Turner MP has made exciting progress championing the cause in an official debate in Parliament last November. A spring ball will take place on May 14 at the Abbots Barton Hotel, Canterbury, including entertainment and a talk on the African lion by Dr Kat"
The team at LionAid would like to thank the Kent Messenger team for supporting our cause.
