This was once a lion

Unloaded from a Kenya Wildlife Service vehicle to be burned together with the ivory on April 30th, a sad skin resting in the mud, we will ever know the story of this young male lion? How did he live? Where was he from? Why was he killed?

Will the burning of his skin make any difference to lion conservation in Kenya? People keep saying there are 2,000 lions in Kenya, but I seriously doubt that number as the authorities have never conducted a nationwide survey.

What we do know is that the ivory burn will make all the international media sit up and take notice about elephants.

But what about the sadness of this poor lion that hardly anybody will pay attention to?
