LION AID™ is committed to ensuring a stable future for the African Lion, Panthera Leo, an iconic species currently under considerable threat.

This will be achieved by supporting scientifically relevant research on disease threats, genetic analyses, and population viability assessments. LION AID™ is dedicated to forming multidisciplinary collaborative partnerships with governments, research institutions, universities, and other charities to ensure significant conservation outcomes. 
In addition, LION AID™ will develop a proposal to be presented to UNESCO concerning the concept of an Iconic Heritage Species™. The lion is a species of significant universal cultural importance, and the concept will be pursued to derive international recognition of lions (and other wild species) as having had significant iconic contributions to world culture. Such conferred status would then lead to greater recognition of the drastic population decrease of lions among UNESCO member states, and by extension contribute to increased levels of protection.
